WATERWORKS AALBACHTAL
DRINKING WATER SUPPLY
The Wertheim municipal utilities were constructing new waterworks. All mechanical engineering components such as pipelines, pumps, containers, fittings, filtration systems, low-pressure reverse osmosis and deacidification were all supplied and installed by KUHN.
The new waterworks filter ground water originating from the Aalbach river valley with a three-channel ultrafiltration system (UF). Using low-pressure reverse osmosis (RO), after ultrafiltration a partial stream is separated off, the water softened and then recombined with ultra-filtrated water. In a subsequent treatment step the water’s pH balance is modified using a two-channel deacidification stage to comply with the required level for releasing water into a water supply network. If any organic contaminants are detected, the water can be diverted to flow through a four-channel activated carbon filtration unit. Kuhn also installed the chemicals dosing stations required for operating the wastewater treatment plant.
Everything from a single source – all under one roof: At KUHN we can also provide you with complete electrical engineering trade services: Switchgear with cabling for the waterworks, deacidification and water conveyance as well as recovery wells and the central water tower. In addition, we can also install the process control system with FlowChief.
TREATMENT PLANT GROß-GERAU
The entire headworks were renewed for the Groß-Gerau wastewater treatment plant. The screening system and grit washer were supplied by KUHN.
Two identical KSR filter stage screens discharge the filtered screenings in a KSF series spiral conveyor in a two-channel screening system. The screenings are conveyed to our KWP wash press and washed, dewatered and compressed. Another spiral conveyor then transports the treated screenings to two containers.
The sewage sludge treatment system was also completely refurbished. New dewatering units with infeed pumps, polymeter preparation stations, connecting pipelines and fittings were installed for digester sludge and excess sludge treatment.
TREATMENT PLANT AACHEN-SOERS
KUHN was responsible for mechanical engineering of a new screening system including an upstream grit/debris trap at the Aachen-Soers wastewater treatment plant for the Eifel-Rur Water Board (WVER).
The system has a water inflow capacity in dry weather of 900 l/s or a maximum combined wastewater inflow of 3,000 l/s. Six Kuhn screens are used in the system: three KHU-B XL multi-screen systems and three KHU-B XL fine screens. The screenings are conveyed to the KWP-P wash presses for washing, dewatering and compressing via KSF twin-shaft spiral screw feeders with automatic pivoting flaps. After treatment, the screenings are discharged through press tubes and distribution conveyors into the screenings containers mounted on electrically operated container wagons.
KUHN is of course ready to offer customers comprehensive engineering advice. In addition to machines, we also supplied other system equipment such as the crane plants, the building heating and ventilation systems, as well as rubble trap grippers.
ENG_ABWASSERREINIGUNGSANLAGE NAHETAL – ANLAGENBAU
